THERE IS A REQUIREMENT THOUGH, AND I NEED TO REMIND OVER AND ABOVE, THAT YOU HAVE A METHOD BY WHICH THE PUBLIC CAN ADDRESS THE COURT. SO WE'LL BE WORKING WITH BRUCE

I THINK THAT MANY OF OUR JUDGES ARE ALREADY TRYING TO DO SOMETHING TO PROTECT THEIR STAFF, WHO ARE OUR EMPLOYEES THAT WE HAVE TO SERVE IN THAT CAPACITY, ESPECIALLY WITH THE RULES WHICH WE'RE USING AS A MODEL HERE OF NO MORE THAN TEN PEOPLE IN A ROOM AT A TIME. THOSE ARE MEDICALLY BASED DECISIONS BUT ONCE YOU START SAYING THESE PARTICULAR KINDS OF CASES, WE'RE GOING TO ASK THE JUNES TO DO X OR Y FROM A MEDICAL BASIS OR A DOCKET CONTROL BASIS.

THE PURCHASING DEPARTMENT THEN WAS TO TURN THOSE REQUISITIONS INTO PEOPLE SOFT PURCHASE ORDERS. ONCE THOSE PURCHASE ORDERS WERE ESTABLISHED IN PEOPLE SOFT, THEN PEOPLE SOFT WOULD ALLOW THE COUNTY AUDITOR TO PROCESS PAYMENTS AGAINST THOSE PURCHASE ORDERS. IT ALL SOUNDS PRETTY EASY BUT THE REALITY IS WHEN THE PROCESS STARTED, AND I DIDN'T KNOW THIS AHEAD OF TIME, AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE WIFE KNEW BUT THE ACTUAL SETTING UP OF THE PURCHASE ORDERS IN THE PURCHASING DEPARTMENT WAS NOT SOMETHING THEY COULD DO EXTREMELY QUICKLY. SO THE DEPARTMENTS HAD ENTERED ABOUT 5500 REQUISITIONS BUT PURCHASING AT THAT POINT HAD ONLY BEEN ABLE TO CONVERT ABOUT 1600 OF THOSE IN THE PURCHASE ORDERS. SO I ENDED UP, MY DEPARTMENT, WITH A LOT OF INVOICES THAT I COULD NOT PAY BECAUSE THE PURCHASE ORDERS HAD NOT YET BEEN ESTABLISHED NOW, BOTH PURCHASING AND MY DEPARTMENT AND THE DEPARTMENTS TO SOME EXTENT HAVE BEEN WORKING TO GET CAUGHT UP. AND THAT'S THE REASON I WANTED TO GET PAYMENTS ON THIS COURT, BECAUSE THERE WERE A LOT OF VENDORS THAT NORMALLY WOULD HAVE GOT PAID ON LAST COURT THAT DID NOT GET PAID. SO ON THIS COURT I'M ASKING FOR YOU TO APPROVE VENDOR PAYMENTS THAT TOTAL AROUND $45.7 MILLIONS. THAT IS MILLION 1800 INVOICES AND THAT'S APPROXIMATELY 600 VENDORS.
